Rafael Leao believes that Milan should have equalised against Roma in their Europa League quarter-final first leg last week, but insists that he and his teammates are raring to go at the Stadio Olimpico and are setting their sights on a spot in the competition’s semis.

The star Rossoneri attacker shared his thoughts with Milan’s internal media channels on Wednesday, heading into tomorrow’s all-Italian quarter-final.

“We’re up for it, it’s one of our biggest games of the season. I think my teammates are aware of what this match means,” Leao said.

“Me, personally, I want to play today, now, we have a lot of confidence, but of course we respect Roma as well, because they’re a great team with great players, but we’re going there in full strength to try and win it.”

Milan must overturn a 1-0 deficit after Gianluca Mancini handed Roma the lead in San Siro last Thursday. Leao still has regrets over the eventual result of the first leg, but insists that the team are ready to make amends in the capital.

“We could have equalised, but we didn’t manage to. We’re going into the second leg in Roma to win.”
