Juventus coach Massimiliano Allegri insists the Bianconeri have ‘clear targets’ and confirms the club will make a decision about his future in the coming weeks: ‘I do the job that I like.’

The Old Lady’s boss spoke at a press conference on Monday on the eve of a Coppa Italia second leg against Lazio.

Juventus won the first leg in Turin 2-0.

“We’ll find an aggressive Lazio who must recover from two goals down,” Allegri said as quoted by Ilbianconero.com.

“They are changing, they are more aggressive than under Sarri, so it will be a difficult match tomorrow. We’ll need a great performance.”

One between Federico Chiesa and Kenan Yildiz will start in attack alongside Dusan Vlahovic.

“Chiesa always done the most important things. Everyone is important, and I will decide during today’s training session. Substitutions will be key tomorrow; it will be a long match,” said Allegri.

“Yildiz must follow a path, but he has extraordinary qualities. Let me give you an example. Bremer is not the same as last season. The Juventus jersey weighs more, especially when games become important. I already said it in the past. These are the matches that make you grow. There are targets and a different pressure. Players grow through these matches.

Allegri on Juventus targets

“At the start of the season, we had two targets: the Coppa Italia and finishing in the top four,” continued Allegri.

“There’s still a long way to go, and there are many games against direct opponents [in Serie A]. Tomorrow, we will understand if we are good enough to reach the final or not quite.”

Juventus finished the last two seasons empty-handed and the Coppa Italia is the only competition they can win this season.

“I always say that the target is to get the best result. That’s what we must focus on and why we work,” noted Allegri.

“In this last month, cup and league winners are determined. We are still there and it’s the most important moment, we haven’t yet reached the Champions League or the Coppa Italia Final.”

What should Juventus expect from Lazio?

“It will be different from Cagliari; we already saw the errors in that match. We’ll find a different team, but we must be good and clear-headed and play with personality when we have the ball,” said Allegri.

“The team is motivated, we have a clear target and we need a big effort. It will be a long match, we’ll need to fight and play as a team for 100 minutes or more.

“We must not be fearful. Football always gives you an opportunity. We know what team we’ll face and we have desire to reach the final.”

Allegri on his future at Juventus

Allegri’s future at Juventus is increasingly uncertain with multiple sources claiming the club will sack him at the end of the season despite a contract expiring in June 2025.

“We must play to win at all times, regardless of the competition,” said Allegri.

“The club has given clear instructions. To reach the Final means to be in the Supercoppa next season. We must have ambition and live with it. It’s the nice thing about playing in a top club.

“I think about nothing, I do the job that I like, then the club has the right to assess the impact of a coach in one context or another. I think the most important thing for us is to reach our targets. That’s why we are here. Tomorrow it’s an important match,” Allegri concluded.
