Bari are the result of the merging of three separate clubs from the city, a process completed in 1928. Their nickname, Galletti, means ‘Cockerels’. Bari are a renowned yo-yo club, bouncing between Serie A and B.

Prior to promotion in 2009, their most recent stay in Serie A was between 1997 and 2001, a period most notable for the emergence of home town sensation Antonio Cassano, who became the most expensive teenager in world football when Roma splashed £18m on the then 19-year-old.
