Udinese are reportedly considering the sack for coach Gabriele Cioffi following the damaging defeat to Verona.

The Friulani were beaten by a stoppage-time Diego Coppola header at the Stadio Bentegodi on Saturday night.

This result left them potentially sliding back into the relegation zone by the end of the weekend, if Frosinone or Sassuolo get victories.

According to Sky Sport Italia, Udinese directors are musing over whether to dismiss Cioffi or stick with him for the rest of the season.

Cioffi campaign

Cioffi had only been appointed on October 25 to replace Andrea Sottil and he has overseen four wins, 10 draws and nine defeats in Serie A, averaging just 0.96 points per game.

It does set up a potentially very curious situation ahead of the April 25 event, where Udinese and Roma will resume from the 72nd minute at 1-1, the moment Evan Ndicka suffered chest pains and breathing difficulties.

The game was suspended and as per Serie A rules will pick up where it left off, with the same players in the squad.

However, it is now possible Udinese will finish the game with a different coach.
