The futuristic Stadio Friuli is one of Serie As most ambitious looking stadiums, housing almost 42,000 spectators at one point in time, and was used as a venue for the 1990 World Cup. The Friuli is similar in design to Munichs Olympiastadion.
From the airport - which is 40km away - the easiest way to reach Udine is via the motorway exiting at Udine south. The nearest train station is 5km away, where the No 10 buses takes passengers to the Friuli.
The Friuli, with its curved UFO-like shape, is an impressive sight. Built in 1976 it has since been revamped and was used for Italia 90 World Cup games. Nowadays the Bianconeri fans fill the Curva Nord, while visiting supporters are allocated a section of the Curva Sud. The stadium is situated north-west of the city centre. To get there catch bus No 2 from outside the railway station.
