Fabrizio Miccoli has accused the Italian media of exaggerating his actions, after it was alleged that he deliberately got himself booked last weekend.
The No 10 is now suspended for Palermo’s trip to Lecce, a club that Miccoli is known to support and have close ties to.
The question has been raised this week as to whether or not the player deliberately picked up a yellow card against Roma last weekend to trigger a one-game suspension to rule him out of facing his hometown club.
“Honestly, living with this situation is annoying,” the 32-year-old hit back.
“I was wrong because I lost my head, but I would not have been booked if a Roma player had not stepped in.
“Everything I do is exaggerated, as if I have done something deliberate, but nobody says that I once played and even scored in Lecce.”
The diminutive attacker scored last season at the Via del Mare for Palermo, before being withdrawn at half-time.
