Genoa chief Enrico Preziosi has admitted that 2011-12 has been a campaign to forget so far.
The Rossoblu started the term with ambitions of a comfortable top-half finish, but they have struggled for consistency.
They replaced boss Alberto Malesani with Pasquale Marino in December, but things have hardly improved.
“I won’t hide my disappointment,” the President noted. “It’s just one of those years and we have to accept that, but the championship is still not over.
“I understand that Genoa fans, because of their great love for the team, are apprehensive. But we will look to start again by reaching obtainable targets.”
Genoa are 13th in the table, just eight points above the relegation zone. They will face Roma in Serie A on Monday night.
