Rossi unsure of future
Friday 23 July, 2010

Villarreal striker Giuseppe Rossi has added to speculation about his future by saying that there is still time before the transfer window closes.

The Italy international has recently been linked with Inter who are preparing to replace Mario Balotelli should the 19-year-old join Manchester City.

“Right now I am with Villarreal,” Rossi told Beyond The Pitch. “For three years I have been here and I am fine.

“During the summer there are always lots of rumours. The market closes on August 31. We'll see what happens.

“Ever since I started watching football, I dreamed of Serie A.”

When asked if he had been in contact with Italy's new boss Cesare Prandelli, he said: “I haven't had the opportunity to speak with him, but I did know him from when I was in the youth team at Parma as he was Coach of the senior squad.

“I think he's a great Coach who has done very well.”

Finally, Rossi reflected on his decision to leave Manchester United.

“At the time I was 19 and I had to take the decision whether to stay at United or leave.

“I wanted to play and I wanted to show everyone in football what I was in a position to do.

“Villarreal made me the best offer in this sense,” he concluded.
