The veteran winger has been dropped from the squad for tonight’s Europa League tie with Shamrock, which kicks off at 19.45 UK time.

The club is irritated that he has refused a series of transfers and this week supporters unfurled banners urging certain ageing figures to accept it was time to move on.

“I don’t know if Camoranesi has been frozen out of the squad, as this is up to the directors and the Coach to say.

“Of course Mauro would like to play for a club that he has already given so much to.”
