Gomez promises nutmegs
Friday 30 July, 2010

Catania's new signing Alejandro Dario Gomez has set pulses racing by promising to nutmeg his opponents this season.

The 22-year-old arrives from San Lorenzo and becomes Catania's 12th Argentine.

Gomez's talent first came to light when he won the Under-20 World Cup.

“I have come to an important League. It's a great chance for me to make myself known, an important step for my career.

“From Serie A, I like Del Piero and Miccoli a lot. Here I know all the Argentines and I have already played with Llama and Barrientos.

“Finding so many Argentines at Catania is an advantage for my integration. I consider myself to be a quick and fast player, capable of beating my man.

“I kick with both feet. I play both on the right and the left.

“I like Giampaolo's system. I know 4-4-2. I know that I have to do well in both phases of play even if I am more used to attacking than defending.

“It's true, the nutmeg is just one of my numbers, but I will always try and respect the opponent.”
