Edinson Cavani might’ve left, but Salvatore Sirigu is confident Palermo will be spectacular with Massimo Maccarone and Mauricio Pinilla.
The Rosanero finished the season in fifth place and have sold Cavani to rivals Napoli.
“This term will be even tougher, as our opponents will be waiting for us as a top side and take on a different attitude,” said the goalkeeper.
“Maccarone is a player who needs no introduction, as in recent years he has proved all his worth.
“Last season Pinilla did great things with Grosseto. He has a lot of potential, both physical and technical, so with time he’ll be able to amaze the fans.”
It is also a new approach for Sirigu, who started last term as second choice at Palermo and ended it in the long list for the 2010 World Cup.
“I don’t see any rivalry with Federico Marchetti for the future of the Azzurri. I think whoever plays for the Nazionale has earned it and there are many talented Italian goalkeepers coming out now.
“I believe Emiliano Viviano and Gianluca Curci can make a step up, while Marco Storari remains a classy shot-stopper.”
