Antonio Conte celebrates his birthday and welcomes Mirko Vucinic. “He is worthy of Juventus and the important thing is he's hungry.”
The Roma striker has agreed a transfer thought to be worth €15m plus performance-related bonuses and should sign a four-year contract on Monday.
“Is Vucinic a top player? He's worthy of Juventus and the important thing is he's hungry,” Conte told the Gazzetta dello Sport.
“We are not the ones who have to form the team around new signings, but rather they must put themselves at the disposal of the side.
“In any case, I'll only talk about Vucinic when he is officially our player.”
Conte celebrates his 41st birthday today and the Bianconeri boss had mixed results in pre-season.
“It's overall a positive approach and I'm happy with the way work is progressing in every respect.
“The players are starting to understand what their Coach wants and I am starting to understand them. Each day I propose this different way of playing football with intensity, hunger and enthusiasm.
“Day after day, we are improving. There is much to do, so we have to carry on with our heads down, but hard work mustn't scare us.”
The Bianconeri are not in Europe this season, so will have less need to rotate the squad.
“I am alternating players during the friendlies, but the shape and approach of the team must stay the same. That is what counts.”
