The FIGC have docked Bologna one point for their failure to make specific tax payments in May and June of this year.
The Italian financial regulatory body Covisoc deferred Bologna last month after months of speculation regarding the ability of the club's then owner Sergio Porcedda to meet certain obligations.
The Sardinian businessman has since ceded control of Bologna and an investment bank has been entrusted with finding a new owner.
It could get worse for Bologna before it gets better as the FIGC are considering levying a further two-point penalty against the club after Porcedda failed to pay the players' wages.
Bologna currently lie fifth from bottom in Serie A and now only have a one-point cushion between them and the relegation zone.
