Andrea Ranocchia expects Inter to raise their game in next weekend's Italian Super Cup Final against Milan.
The Nerazzurri were beaten 3-0 by Manchester City yesterday ahead of their Chinese trip against the Italian champions.
"Having now completed these tests in Dublin, we can just focus on Beijing and there, I'm certain, it will be a completely different story," he told Inter Channel.
"We're trying many different things. At this point in the season it's the right thing to do as later there won't even be the time to think about it."
Among the new things being tried by boss Gian Piero Gasperini is a three-man defence thanks to his 3-4-3 philosophy.
"Cristian Chivu and I were a little tired, but overall we held up well in defence against City, an opponent that was very strong and fielded their best formation," the youngster added.
"It was another good test, but at this point we've worked a lot and we were a little less clear-headed than, for example, against Celtic and Galatasaray."
