Alessandro Nesta sees Thiago Silva as his Milan heir, but warns “I intend to keep playing as long as possible.”
The veteran defender had been considering his retirement and it’s widely believed he’ll hang up his boots next summer.
“I intend to keep playing as long as possible and to keep the date of my retirement far in the distance,” smiled the 35-year-old.
He was given a warm welcome by the fans in China ahead of Saturday’s Italian Super Cup against Inter.
The Rossoneri will be without the injured Philippe Mexes and suspended Taye Taiwo for that clash.
“Last season our defence did very well, especially in the second half of the campaign,” continued Nesta.
“Now we have players like Mexes and Taiwo as well, while we kept the best defender in the world, Thiago Silva. Therefore our defence is absolutely solid.”
