FIGC Vice-President Demetrio Albertini admits he’s worried the Serie A season could be delayed by the Players’ Association.
A strike was called off towards the end of last term when negotiations resumed for the renewal of the collective bargaining contract.
However, the talks have still not reached an agreement and the campaign kicks off on August 27.
“It’s like the NBA. If there is no signature on the contract, then the season won’t start,” warned Albertini.
The AIC (Players’ Association) President Damiano Tommasi also noted there were serious problems.
“Tommasi was very clear,” continued Federation Vice-President and former Milan midfielder Albertini.
“The President of the AIC went round the pre-season training camps and the players’ intentions emerged. Without the agreement, they won’t play.
“I believe the Lega will sign the collective bargaining contract before August 26. There is time to find a deal, but then again we’ve been told that for a year now.”
