Former Genoa midfielder Alberto Zapater has rejected the chance to join Serie A side Parma.
The 26-year-old has just completed a move to Lokomotiv Moscow after a season with Sporting Lisbon.
"I had contact with four Spanish clubs, plus Parma, Newcastle and Olympiakos, but I preferred to accept Lokomotiv."
The Spaniard will be bossed by Jose Couceiro, a tactician he worked under last season during his spell in Portugal.
Zapata spent one term in Italy when he was signed by Genoa in 2009, but he was swapped for Miguel Veloso at the end of that campaign.
