Gokhan Inler has revealed the reasons why he eventually decided to accept Napoli's offer this summer.
The Swiss international joined the San Paolo outfit, but only after one of the longest transfer sagas of the window.
"The President did everything he could to get me," the now former Udinese player told La Gazzetta dello Sport.
"His insistence was a vital factor. I also spoke to Morgan De Sanctis and Marek Hamsik who pushed me to accept.
"I've arrived at a great club and this could be fundamental for my career. I've taken a big step up in coming here. Now I just want to win.
"Taking part in the Champions League was important, but I primarily took into account the club's prospects which are important for my professional future."
Juventus did think about attempting to hijack the Azzurri's move for Inler, but Napoli's concrete desire to net him proved key.
"I took into consideration the fact that Napoli had been chasing me for two years, while Juventus were never decisive," he concluded.
