Delio Rossi feels Palermo went out of the Europa League in the group phase due to “a lack of experience.”
The Sicilians cannot qualify after their 2-2 home draw with Sparta Prague, so the final round is irrelevant.
“We always seem to go a man down, today eventually two, and we cannot make this sort of mistake at this level,” said the Coach.
Dorin Goian saw red when giving away a penalty, then Javier Pastore followed with his second dismissal of the tournament.
“It's a shame because the lads gave their all and it was a good performance. We can only blame ourselves for this exit and I hope this Europa League adventure can give us some experience,” added Rossi.
“The red cards prove that in Europe there is a different way of viewing fouls and we do not have enough experience in how to spread that pressure through the team.”
CSKA Moscow and Sparta Prague qualify for the knockout phase.
