Palermo have confirmed that Fiorentina have approached them in the hope of signing Cesare Bovo.
"We know of the interest from Fiorentina," Rosanero Vice-President Guglielmo Micciche told Viola News.
"This time it is not just newspaper speculation, their interest is concrete.
"Viola sporting director Pantaleo Corvino has told us that he wants the player and we are now evaluating things.
"Talks are at an advanced stage."
Bovo, 28, started his career in the Roma youth ranks.
He joined Palermo for the second time in the summer of 2008 after a season at Genoa.
Bovo could be sacrificed after the Rosanero completed their swoop of Catania stopper Matias Silvestre.
