Argentina goalkeeper Sergio Aguero is on the verge of completing a move to Serie B side Sampdoria.
Doria have spent all summer looking for a new custodian and it seems that they have dumped the Alex Manninger option, Juve's third-choice, in favour of the 24-year-old.
Romero is currently in Holland with AZ Alkmaar and will be netted by the Italians at a cost of €3.5m.
Romero will sign a four-year contract at Marassi and he should touch down in Italy at some stage on Saturday.
Doria were defended by Gianluca Curci last term before he returned to Roma at the end of the campaign.
