Azzurri tactician Cesare Prandelli is amazed that Giuseppe Rossi hasn't been signed by an Italian club.
Rossi currently plays his football in Spain with Villarreal, but is very much in the national plans of the Italy boss.
"I'd like to see him playing in Italy," the former Fiorentina Coach noted. "His is a strange story
"He most certainly deserves to be at one of the big Italian clubs."
The American-born striker actually grew up in the Parma youth ranks, before he was signed as a teenager by Manchester United in 2004.
Rossi went on to play for Newcastle and Parma on loan. In 2007 he was signed outright by Villarreal.
The forward was targeted by Juventus both last summer and this, but his Spanish club eventually decided to take him off the market.
