Newly-promoted Novara missed out on David Suazo, but are thought to be closing on Lecce striker Nelson Jeda.
The northern club had been in advanced negotiations for Suazo, but today he completed his transfer to Catania.
It is instead reported that Jeda is their new target to reinforce the front line and talks are going very well.
It's believed 32-year-old Brazilian Jeda could finalise the move from Lecce to Novara within the next few days.
Jeda has been in Serie A since 2000 for Vicenza, Siena, Palermo, Piacenza, Catania, Crotone, Rimini, Cagliari and Lecce.
