Roma assistant manager Ivan De La Peña reassured fans after taking a leave of absence. “They are leaving the door open for me.”
It was announced on Thursday that Luis Enrique's right hand man would be returning to Spain for personal reasons over an undisclosed period of time.
“I am feeling much better,” De La Peña told Roma Channel. “It is a special situation, a family problem that means I have to return to Spain.
“It is not so serious as an illness, but at this moment I have to be in Barcelona with my family.
“I thank director Walter Sabatini and all of Roma, as they understood the situation. I also thank Luis Enrique, who is like a brother to me.
“They are leaving the door open for me, I thank them all and am sure it will be a great season for Roma.”
