'Without results Italy has nothing'

Arrigo Sacchi has launched a scathing attack on Italian football, saying that if you take away the results there is little or nothing left.

The former Milan Coach, who is now overseeing the development of Italy's academies, was pointing to the country's fixation with winning rather than playing well.

Speaking clearly with the events of Monday night's Clasico in mind, Sacchi said: "Obviously speaking on a general level we are always saved more for the results we get than for the way we play.

"When we don't even have results, there is little or nothing remaining.

"I believe that our way of interpreting football is quite far from the general idea that the world has and I believe it's not very constructive.

"We need a new policy for the academies. We must promote a new mentality starting from the youngsters," he concluded.
