Roma's dismal pre-season performances are prompting the club to step up its efforts to sign ex-Palermo defender Simon Kjaer.
The 3-0 defeat at Valencia this weekend showed big problems at the back for Luis Enrique's team.
Director Walter Sabatini is reportedly pushing to strengthen the defence as quickly as possible with the arrival of Kjaer.
The 22-year-old Danish defender was brought to Serie A when Sabatini was still director of Palermo in 2008.
Kjaer was sold to Wolfsburg in July 2010, but has repeatedly been linked with a return to Italy.
It's reported Roma will offer €2m to take the player on loan and then buy at the end of the season for €8m.
Kjaer will effectively be a replacement for Philippe Mexes, who joined Milan after his contract expired this summer.
