Former Genoa defender Claudio Onofri is keeping his fingers crossed that the club sign Alberto Gilardino.
The Fiorentina striker has been paired with the Grifone this summer and a deal is reportedly on the horizon.
"Gilardino can give something extra to an already competitive side," the ex-defender told Radio Sportiva.
"This team is just missing a centre-forward and Gilardino would guarantee at least 15 goals a season.
"He'd be the cherry on the cake for a side who could have a very satisfying campaign."
Gilardino, valued at €15m, joined the Viola in 2008 from Milan.
In 105 Serie A games for the Tuscan side, he's netted 46 goals that's an average of 15 a campaign.
