Lazio are hoping to sign Diego Lugano this summer even if he'll have to accept a pay cut to leave Fenerbahce.
The Uruguayan international could quit his Turkish club before the window closes given the interest in his services.
Juventus do have his name on a centre-back shortlist and are currently pondering their next move.
Lazio could intercept their swoop though should the Bianconeri stall or target another stopper before the end of this month.
The capital club have been tracking Lugano for some time and he isn't expected to cost more than €3.5m with some reports even suggesting he could be available on a free.
However, Lugano's reported €3m a season salary does pose a problem for the Biancocelesti given that their top earners earn around €2m a campaign.
Lugano would thus have to accept a reduction in salary should he accept a switch to the Stadio Olimpico.
