Malesani excited by Genoa debut

Alberto Malesani is looking forward to his Genoa debut today in the Coppa Italia. “I can't wait to get out there at Marassi. Fantastic!”

The new Coach has left Bologna behind and begins this new adventure in the Third Round clash with Nocerina, kick-off 17.00 UK time.

“I can't wait to get out there for my first game as a Genoa boss at Marassi. Fantastic!” declared Malesani.

“I have only one expectation and that is to qualify for the next round! I cannot ask for the moon, as we're still in full pre-season mode and getting to know each other, but we still want to go through.

“The Coppa Italia was the launching pad for many teams. Don't forget Roberto Mancini's Inter started the winning streak from there, as this competition gets you accustomed to fighting for a trophy.

“I watched Nocerino a lot last season, as in my view they played the best football in Lega Pro,” continued Malesani.

“However, we are Genoa, so must impose our tempo on the game and ensure the weight of our history and splendid stadium pressure our opponents every time.”
