Pioli has Palermo concerns

Stefano Pioli concedes Palermo are still having problems after their Europa League exit. “We need to be more solid, concentrated and determined.”

The Sicilians crashed out of Europe at the first hurdle against Swiss side Thun and play Fenerbahce in a friendly this evening.

“I am making certain evaluations and we'll see what we can do on the market. It doesn't only depend on us,” said the Coach.

Many are already betting on Pioli to be axed in the first few weeks of the Serie A season.

“We have to maintain the attacking approach this team has always enjoyed, but at the same time balance it out with stronger defending. We need to be more solid, concentrated and determined when out of possession.

“We are focusing on this aspect and I'm convinced soon we'll see the fruits of our labour.”

Palermo are still without a goalkeeper, having sold Salvatore Sirigu to Paris Saint-Germain, as Chievo are holding on to top choice Stefano Sorrentino.

“This is a very important role in the side and there's no point denying that,” continued Pioli.

“The sooner we get a first choice goalkeeper, the better, but this is a long transfer session with negotiations that can drag on right up to August 31. I want a strong goalkeeper, as we're looking for a Number 1.”
