Bayern Munich have publicly denied reports they are showing an interest in Fiorentina's Riccardo Montolivo, opening the door to Arsenal.
The Germans were expected to make a €10m bid after the Viola stated he would only be sold abroad.
“There is no truth in the rumours linking Bayern with Montolivo,” director of sport Christian Nerlinger told Abendzeitung.
“We will not be signing any more players this summer.”
This leaves the door open for Arsenal to complete their swoop for the 26-year-old Italian international midfielder.
