Milan boss fears Barcelona

Milan boss Massimiliano Allegri thinks that only Barcelona could end their Champions League dream this season.

The San Siro giants won Serie A last term, but their top priority in the campaign ahead will be to again rule Europe.

Speaking to La Stampa, the former Cagliari tactician insisted his side would be competitive on the continent – so long as they don't face Barca.

"I am convinced that, with a full squad, we are on a par with Real Madrid," he stated. "The only exception is Barcelona.

"Last season we went out of the competition against Tottenham because of some bad luck and a number of injuries."

The Rossoneri failed to get past the last 16 stage, but he's confident that he has the players to improve on that performance.

"I do not have to build a team, but I have to improve it," the Coach continued. "Milan are not perfect.

"Let me give you an example – when Barcelona lose the ball, they try to regain possession at a frenetic pace. That is one aspect we have to do better in."

Milan will be further strengthened in the coming days by the acquisition of Liverpool midfielder Alberto Aquilani.

"We scoured Italy and Europe and we are convinced he will be an asset," Allegri stated when questioned on the Roma youth team product.
