Damiano Tommasi, President of the Players' Association, admits “at the moment we cannot call off the strike.”
The players had threatened to call off the opening weekend of the Serie A season if the collective bargaining contract was not signed.
This afternoon, 18 out of 20 Serie A clubs voted against signing the deal, so a strike is increasingly likely.
“At the moment we cannot call off the strike, as the conditions to play do not exist,” said AIC President Tommasi.
“The requests from the clubs are implausible. The meeting with the FIGC is adjourned until tomorrow, but I don't see what can change.”
