Genoa keep up Gilardino hunt

Enrico Preziosi claims Genoa continue to target Alberto Gilardino and won't sell Rodrigo Palacio to Inter “unless we find a replacement.”

The Rossoblu have repeatedly stated they want to sign Gila from Fiorentina, but have struggled to reach an agreement.

“Our transfer objective up until Sunday will continue to be Gilardino,” President Preziosi told Sky Sport Italia.

“Marco Borriello? We are talking about one of the top Italian strikers in circulation and it'd be great to have him back.”

However, Borriello seems set to complete his move to Paris Saint-Germain over the weekend.

Another deal could involve Genoa, as Inter want to sign Palacio to be reunited with Gian Piero Gasperini.

“I think it is very difficult for us to see Palacio joining Inter unless we can find a replacement,” continued Preziosi.

“He is part of our plans, although of course no players are completely untouchable.

“I'd love to have Mauro Zarate and he'd be a perfect replacement for Palacio.”

However, Lazio have refused to release Zarate on loan and will only accept a €20m cash offer.
