Velez Sarsfield are furious with Fiorentina for apparently bypassing talks to pay Santiago Silva's buy-out clause.
The Viola cannot register the €1.7m signing yet, because they must first sell one of their non-EU players to a foreign club.
“We are stunned. Relations with Fiorentina were completely cut off,” said Velez director Julio Baldomar.
However, the Uruguayan striker insists it was a valid course of action to activate the buy-out clause in his contract.
“Velez will always be my home and I'll forever be grateful to the club and its fans. I cleared the air with the President and never had problems with anyone.
“Coming to Fiorentina was an important step for my career.”
