The agent of Antonio Cassano has confirmed that Fiorentina were interested in signing the Milan man this summer.
The Viola were one of numerous clubs linked with the Italian international since the end of last season, but no move materialised.
"I can confirm that Fiorentina were interested," representative Beppe Bozzo has admitted on transfer deadline day.
"However, the player was determined to stay at Milan and the club themselves never even thought about selling him."
Cassano joined the Rossoneri in January after his falling out with Sampdoria owner Riccardo Garrone.
There was a belief that the player would consider a summer switch given that he isn't guaranteed first team football at San Siro ahead of Euro 2012.
