It is now official that Mauro Zarate has joined Inter on loan from Lazio. “I fought hard for this move.”
The Nerazzurri swooped for Zarate on transfer deadline day after Genoa rejected their €10m offer for Rodrigo Palacio.
“I am happy to be at Inter,” declared the striker. “They were my first choice and I always wanted Inter, as they are a great side, so I fought hard for this move.
“I am pleased to be reunited with so many Argentineans in the squad and now just want to focus on training and playing.”
Although the financial details were not outlined, it's widely believed Inter will pay €2.7m for the year on loan, plus a €15.5m option to buy him outright.
The official Nerazzurri website confirmed Zarate has already signed a contract holding him to the club until June 30, 2015.
