Lippi's verdict on new Serie A

World Cup winning boss Marcello Lippi expects Milan and Napoli to challenge for the Scudetto this season.

Speaking to La Repubblica, the former Azzurri boss is predicting a real battle for the championship in 2011-12.

"It will be a competitive Serie A, a fascinating season," the Viareggino stated.

"Milan and Napoli will begin with an advantage given that they have kept their Coaches from the previous term.

"Nevertheless, we shouldn't underestimate teams such as Inter.

"It's the same situation for Juventus. They have changed a lot, but Antonio Conte's work will soon be rewarded with results.

"Roma have changed radically too and we'll have to see how they'll cope with everything."

Serie A should begin next Friday when Milan entertain Lazio at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza. Week 1 was postponed due to strike action from the players.
