Maurizio Zamparini has faith in ‘Pep Guardiola style' Coach Devis Mangia and reiterates Palermo suffered “extortion” from Javier Pastore's agents.
The President sacked Coach Stefano Pioli this week, although the Serie A season hasn't even kicked off yet.
After he was turned down by Delio Rossi and Claudio Ranieri, the chief promoted youth team manager Mangia.
“He is young, a bit like Pep Guardiola,” Zamparini told Il Giornale di Sicilia.
“I can see that the team is following him, as he has good common sense. The players follow his directives because they agree with him.
“He loves football that is hard-working with a lot of movement off the ball, which is what I like too. He is positive, innovative and a very humble person.”
President Zamparini accused Pastore's agents of ‘extortion' this week, claiming they had threatened to pole-axe the move to Paris Saint-Germain if they did not receive more than the €12.5m agreed commission.
“Palermo were the victims of extortion. We were forced to conclude the transfer this way, as it was as if we had a gun pointed to our heads.
“They asked for something that had not been agreed, otherwise they would've wrecked the move to PSG.
“We had already written in a contract what percentage the agents would receive, but then they asked us for something different.”
