Lamela plays waiting game

Roma medics are hoping to restore new signing Erik Lamela to full fitness by the end of September.

The summer signing from River Plate, who could eventually cost Roma a fee of around €17m, is currently sidelined with injury.

There were previous suggestions that the Argentine could be ready for Week 3 of the campaign, but that no longer seems possible.

Lamela is still struggling with a left ankle problem which he picked up for his country during the Under-20 World Cup.

The player is undergoing a specific rehabilitation programme which could see him return to Luis Enrique's disposal by the end of the month.
