Fiorentina are hopeful that they'll be able to convince Riccardo Montolivo to sign a new contract at the club.
The Italian international is only tied to the outfit until June 2012, meaning he could quit Tuscany for nothing next year.
"The club have decided to leave the player in peace until after Italy have played their game against Slovenia tomorrow," Fiorentina general manager Sandro Mencucci noted on Monday.
"There will be plenty of time after that to discuss a renewal with him."
It looked as if Montolivo's Viola adventure would end this summer after he refused to prolong his Stadio Artemio Franchi stay.
However, Mencucci is remaining positive that the former Atalanta youth product will make a U-turn.
"I'm optimistic," the official added. "Even more so when I know that Montolivo and his agent are intelligent people."
Montolivo was linked with a move to Milan this summer, while he rejected a switch to Roma.
