Lecce boss Eusebio Di Francesco expects his side to be one of eight teams to be fighting for Serie A survival.
The Stadio Via Del Mare outfit managed to maintain their Serie A status under Gigi De Canio last term before he was replaced by Di Francesco in the summer.
"I think the relegation battle will consist of seven or eight teams this season," said the former Pescara tactician.
"However, you can't take anything for granted in this championship. Just look at what happened to Sampdoria last term."
Doria started the 2010-11 campaign in the Champions League, but ended the season in the bottom three.
"My impact with my new environment has been positive," continued the ex-Roma midfielder. "I don't feel good at Lecce, I feel very good."
Lecce open their Serie A campaign on Sunday when they entertain Udinese at home.
