Claudio Marchisio and Mattia Cassani are in line to start for Italy against Slovenia on Tuesday night.
Cesare Prandelli confirmed over the weekend that he would look to make subtle changes to the team in response to a disappointing performance against minnows Faroe Islands on Friday night.
Juventus midfielder Marchisio and Fiorentina's new full-back Cassani are set to be those changes, with both thought to be tested in training sessions held behind closed doors ahead of the Azzurri's European Championship qualifier.
Marchisio's selection is thought to be in place of Thiago Motta, whilst Cassani - with experience of both wing-back positions - is likely to come in for Christian Maggio at right-back.
Cassani spoke to the Press on Sunday afternoon of his desire to play some part on Tuesday night, as it will be the first opportunity for him to appear in front of his new home fans, as the game is going to be held at Fiorentina's Stadio Artemio Franchi.
Italy can secure automatic qualification to Poland-Ukraine 2012 with a win against Matjaz Kek's team.
