Riccardo Montolivo and Fiorentina have reportedly moved closer in negotiations to extend his contract.
The midfielder was expected to be sold over the summer after he refused to prolong his present agreement which expires in June 2012.
However, talks over a renewal have now resumed and progress is understood to have been made.
Given that the Viola don't want to lose him for nothing next summer, they've offered him fresh terms until 2014.
However, it's understood that a rescission clause will be inserted which means he would be able to leave if any Italian club meets that specified figure.
That transfer fee could be set at the €7m mark.
