Fiorentina boss Sinisa Mihajlovic has questioned why Alberto Gilardino didn't feature for Italy against Slovenia on Tuesday.
The striker played no part in the game staged in Florence which secured the Azzurri's spot at Euro 2012.
"Prandelli says that the player wasn't serene, but that's rubbish," the tactician told the Corriere Fiorentino.
"Alberto has always behaved well with us, he's always been a serious professional and I think that will be the same case while he's with the Italy squad.
"I'd like to see how the other players trained, like Antonio Cassano and Mario Balotelli seeing as we know what they are like.
"Gilardino is in good physical shape, he may have had some uncertain moments during the last few days of the transfer market, but I've spoken to him and he's calm.
"Prandelli could have come up with a better excuse "
