Miralem Pjanic joined Roma on transfer deadline day. “You can't say no to a club like this and I'll learn so much from Francesco Totti.”
The Bosnian international arrived from Lyon in the final hours of the session for a reported €11m and was only today presented to the media.
“The captain is a World Cup winner, which not many people can say. I'll learn so much by playing alongside Totti and it can only improve me,” said the midfielder.
“Roma wanted me strongly and this convinced me to accept the transfer. Plus, you can't say no to a club like this.
“I have seen how Coach Luis Enrique works. It's a style of football I like, as it's very attacking. Of course, it will be important for us all to give our best. There mustn't be too much pressure put on the Coach, as I'm sure he'll do well.”
Despite joining the squad so late, Pjanic is pushing for a starting spot in Sunday's Serie A match with Cagliari.
“I trained well and, if the Coach wants, I am ready. We used this tactical system in France, so it's not a problem. I will admit I don't speak the language, but I hope to learn it as soon as possible.”
The new Roma signing had also been linked with rivals Lazio before making the move.
“I had heard about their interest and I know the derby is a special game with intense rivalry between the teams. In my view, Roma are the best and we'll try to win both games.”
