Hugo Campagnaro admits the goal was just what he needed after “a nightmare summer” in which he almost died.
The Napoli defender scored in last night's 3-1 victory away to Cesena and his celebrations had a particularly emotional feel to them.
“After a nightmare summer, I needed certain satisfactions to help me look forward and keep moving,” said the Argentine.
In June he was involved in a horrific car crash that killed three people, including his best friend, and put him in hospital.
“Now I have to focus on carrying on and keep a thought for those who are no longer here.”
The game at the Stadio Manuzzi was also the first ever Serie A match to be played on a synthetic pitch.
“I felt great on the artificial turf, as it is soft and you can easily play on it. I'm happy to have scored such an important goal.
“Now we have to prepare for Manchester City and I'm ready to challenge Sergio Aguero. I'm told he scored a hat-trick this weekend, so we have to find a way to stop him playing at his best.”
