Alberto Malesani fears Atalanta's determination after their six-point penalty, something the Genoa Coach knows a lot about.
He managed to keep Bologna in Serie A last term amid near-bankruptcy, repeated changes of ownership and a three-point penalty.
“We have to be mentally very strong, because Atalanta may have a penalty, but they have a great President, enthusiasm, players who know each other and it can even act as an incentive,” said Malesani.
“After all, at Bologna last season we certainly felt that extra push because we were up against the odds."
Atalanta were given the six-point penalty after a betting scandal hit their Serie B promotion campaign, which also brought a three-and-a-half-year ban on captain Cristiano Doni.
“Sebastian Frey, Kakha Kaladze, Marco Rossi and Rodrigo Palacio will be the spine of this team.
“Andrea Caracciolo was a great signing for us, but doesn't have 90 minutes in him at the moment, so we'll see whether he starts or comes off the bench.”
