Massimo Ficcadenti has praised his Cagliari players for their personality, after their surprise opening day win away to Roma.
The former Cesena Coach was drafted in as a replacement for Roberto Donadoni late in the summer and oversaw only the team's second League win since the end of February.
"I'm delighted, but we are just at the first day. There will be difficulties ahead, but in the meantime, we have to enjoy these three points, whilst also thinking about the next game," Ficcadenti commented after the game.
"This is a good team composed of excellent players. It also has the advantage of several players that have played together for years. For a Coach it is certainly easier to be in this situation, than to have to rebuild.
"In short, I only have to improve the mechanisms."
Ficcadenti responded to comparisons between this result at the Olimpico, and last season's 0-0 draw he achieved with Cesena in Week 2 against the Giallorossi:
"They are two completely different games, and both teams then were also very different to those from this weekend. However, to record a positive result here is always nice.
"This victory gives us confidence and moral going forward. However, we have to put it aside and think about the next commitment, Saturday's home match with Novara."
