Atalanta boss Stefano Colantuono is optimistic for the season ahead despite their points' penalty.
The Nerazzurri were promoted to the top flight last term, but a summer betting probe saw them start the new campaign with a six-point deduction.
"It's not easy to begin the championship with a penalty," the former Palermo and Torino boss told Radio Mana Mana.
"We have to get rid of the deduction as soon as possible, but we are a competitive squad and I'm convinced that we can get out of it."
The Bergamo club began the Serie A campaign with an impressive 2-2 draw at Genoa on Sunday afternoon.
"We played well," he continued. "We probably deserved to win, but it was still a good result.
"We're a newly promoted side, a provincial one, but we showed some good geometry against Genoa."
Atalanta are at home to Palermo in Week 3.
